Cyber Defense Concentration: Computer Information Technology, A.A.S.

The Cyber Defense Concentration will focus on topics in cyber security and digital forensics. The students will learn how to fortify computer networks in order to prevent security breaches from cyber terrorists or other intruders. In addition, students will learn how to recover data using digital forensics techniques. Students will also develop strong critical thinking skills and will learn by doing within a hands-on lab environment along with real world internship experiences. Required courses are: Digital Forensics, Network Security and Principles of Information Assurance. Certifications applicable to this concentration may include CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ among others.
This is a technical program designed to prepare students for employment. This program is not a transfer program, although many institutions accept all or part of the coursework toward a bachelor’s degree.
Summary of Required Hours
1 In consultation with academic advisor, students may select appropriate Math/Natural Science, Humanities/Fine Arts and Social/Behavioral Science electives.
2CITC Capstone and Co-op Internships must be pre-arranged with the CITC academic advisor before students can enroll in the course.
