Mechatronics Technology, A.A.S.

Mechatronics is a blend of mechanical, electrical and computerized technologies that together form a complex system used by many manufacturing, packaging and other modern operations. Students will develop skills to work as a technician in an integrated, multidisciplinary industrial environment and will acquire the knowledge and hands-on training in electronics, mechanics and computers to work in a variety of industrial and manufacturing related businesses. Skills emphasized in the program include troubleshooting techniques, system preventative maintenance and safety with respect to electrical components, mechanical components and electric motors, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and PLCs used in mechatronics systems. Students successfully completing this program can manage, investigate, repair and troubleshoot mechatronic systems with the aim of operational efficiency and cost and process control. The A.A.S. in Mechatronics Technology prepares students for careers in manufacturing and engineering. The student is prepared to work in many various fields such as automotive, food processing, power production, aviation manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, robotics and many more.

This is an occupational program designed to equip students for employment. The A.A.S. degree is normally not designed for transfer but the Mechatronics Technology, A.A.S. does transfer to specific institutions. Please see your academic advisor to discuss.

1Students intending on completing their undergraduate work at UT Chattanooga or Middle Tennessee State University for a B.A.S. or B.S. degree should take MATH 1910 - Calculus I  in place of ENST 1300 - Technical Calculations .

2In consultation with academic advisor, students may select appropriate Humanities/Fine Arts and Social/Behavioral Sciences  electives.

3Students intending on completing their undergraduate work at UT Chattanooga or Middle Tennessee State University for a B.A.S. or B.S. degree should take PHYS 2110 - Calculus Based Physics I  in place of PHYS 1030 - Survey of Physics .
