The Sociology emphasis is designed to prepare students for transfer to a bachelor’s degree granting institution. The degree prepares students for more advanced study in a pathway through which they can puruse career opportunities related to Sociology.

Summary of Required Hours

¹Students who seek an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree should take the history sequence required by the senior institution.  For a TBR university, one course in Tennessee History may be substituted for one course in American History.

²UT Martin requires a Natural Science sequence.

³Universities will determine whether the sociology elective course counts toward requirements of the Sociology major or as elective credit applied to the requirements of the baccalaureate degree.
