HVAC and Refrigeration Technical Certificate


The HVAC and Refrigeration Technical Certificate offers students an array of courses to develop knowledge and technical skills in the field of HVAC and Refrigeration. Topics of study include refrigeration theory, heating theory, mechanical system applications, installations, safety, tools and instruments, and general maintenance practices of recovery, evacuation, repair and commissioning. Additional topics include system load design including efficient and balanced designed for ductwork, ventilation, and filtration. Students will explore advanced control systems for HVAC and other mechanical equipment. Students will also explore how modern systems improve efficiency and reliability.

1Students should choose between  METC 1343 - Industrial/Commercial HVAC Systems  (Fall) or METC 1344 - Commercial Refrigeration Systems  (Spring). The course selection is dependent on the student’s area of interest and the semester in which they prefer to take the course. Either course will fulfill the requirements for the HVAC and Refrigeration Technical Certificate.

2 ENST 1350 - Industrial Safety  may be taken either Fall or Spring semester.
