BIOL 2230 - Microbiology

2 credits


Characteristics of prominent bacteria, viruses, protozoa and multicellular parasites; history of microbiology, chemistry, cells, microbial metabolism and genetics, recombinant DNA techniques, microbial growth and control of microbial growth, infection, host defense and diagnostic testing. Laboratory experiments emphasize morphology, identification, aseptic procedures and applied microbiology.  Course includes two hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory applications each week.
